Selling your motorcycle to MotoDirecta: what you need to know

Which motorcycles we buy

We buy used motorcycles of every engine size and style: scooters, naked bikes, trail, custom and sports bikes. The one condition is that they have no serious faults. Normal wear and tear, a scuff or an overdue service do not stop the sale: we take them into account when we calculate the offer.

We also buy motorcycles with outstanding charges: retention of title (reserva de dominio), outstanding finance, a leasing contract (renting) or an embargo. We take care of clearing the charge and pay you the difference.

And inherited motorcycles, as long as the papers and documentation are in order: we handle the transfer of ownership.

What we do not buy are faulty motorcycles or bikes in poor condition. And if your motorcycle does not fit what we can resell with a warranty because of its mileage, age or make, we will tell you so clearly rather than make you a low offer.

We collect the motorcycle anywhere in mainland Spain (not in the Balearic or Canary Islands) and collection costs you nothing extra: the offer already allows for it.

How we calculate the offer

We do not use a generic price table. We start from real market data: what motorcycles like yours, of the same model and with a similar year and mileage, are being advertised for today. We then adjust the figure for the condition you describe, any extras it has and the cost of preparing it for resale with a warranty.

That is why we ask for the registration number, mileage, condition and a few photos. The registration number lets us fill in the make, model and year, and the photos show us what a form cannot. The online valuation gives you an estimate on the spot; the firm offer follows once we have reviewed the details and photos, usually within 24 hours.

A fixed price, valid for 7 days

Our offer is a fixed price: we stand by it as long as the motorcycle is as you described it, whether online or over the phone. If, when we collect it, it has damage you did not tell us about or any detail does not match what you declared, we will offer you a price that reflects its actual condition.

To keep the figure from changing, tell us everything from the start: falls, scratches, replaced parts or overdue services. The more complete the description, the more accurate the offer.

The offer is valid for 7 days. After that the market may have moved, so we value the motorcycle again with up-to-date information.

When and how you get paid

We pay you on the spot, at the moment of collection and before we take the motorcycle away. There are no advance payments and no waiting afterwards. If the motorcycle has an outstanding charge, you receive the difference between our offer and the amount needed to clear it that same day.

The valuation is free and without obligation. If you would rather bring the motorcycle to us yourself, our shop in Elche (Alicante) only sees customers by appointment; the online valuation, on the other hand, is available 24 hours a day.

Paperwork and transfer of ownership

We handle the transfer of ownership with the Spanish traffic authority (DGT) and all the paperwork at no extra cost to you. We sign a purchase contract with you and register the motorcycle in our name.

To sell, you need the registered owner’s ID, the registration certificate (permiso de circulación) and the motorcycle’s technical data sheet (ficha técnica). If a document is missing or you are not sure whether the motorcycle has any charges, let us know when you request the valuation: the DGT vehicle report shows the registered owner and any charges recorded.

Financed motorcycles, retention of title and embargoes

Still paying off your motorcycle does not stop you from selling it. If it has retention of title, outstanding finance, a leasing contract or an embargo, we take care of clearing the charge and pay you the difference on the spot. You can read more about embargoes in Can I sell a motorcycle subject to an embargo?.
